I enjoyed creating a playful intervention in Laurel Lodge, upturning the usual careful house museum style display to depict a scene of Edwardian domestic chaos, on the premise that visitors have dropped in unexpectedly and the house is a big mess.
I have re-arranged items, added borrowed items (thanks Rhonda Diffey!), as well as some items that I have made, to create a series of disorderly vignettes. I have inserted some sketches and scurrilous notes, toying with the usually reverential take on remembering the past in house museums.
The installation was part of the Artist in Residence showcase exhibition, at Heritage Hill Museum and Historic Gardens, Dandenong, 8 November-8 December 2013.
