On all Souls Day (November 2nd) I created a mini installation The Beloved, for a choir gig at the Parlour, in Preston. The Parlour was an art space based in a former funeral home.
The Beloved is a series of rubbings on coloured paper bunting – all rubbings were made from tombstones at the Coburg Cemetery.
The artwork was installed in the style of a Mexican Day of the Dead altar, which are typically set up in people’s homes on the evening of 2 November, and audience members were invited to light a candle for their dear departed.
