An ‘Heirloom’ themed exhibition opened yesterday, at the National Trust of Victoria’s Barwon Park Mansion in Winchelsea – that’s my lino-cut top above, printed on lime green tissue paper, recalling the sulky that my mum wanted to leave to me or my brother, that we didn’t want! (I have inherited a weird interest in horse-drawn vehicles though). The exhibition is quietriot! 2026 National Small Works on Paper, sponsored by The Rose Street Market. This year, artists were asked to “consider what gets passed down, the treasured and the burdensome, the chosen and imposed”. For other carriage aficionados, there are several horse-drawn vehicles from the National Trust collection lurking in the carriage house at Barwon Park, including a sulky that looks uncannily similar to my lino-cut.
