A ‘creative response to history’ activity, as part of my 2021 Creative Workers in Schools project for Regional Arts Victoria, I ran a poetry writing workshop with Prep-2 students at Elphinstone Primary School, responding to an historic photograph relating to the school, in collaboration with art teacher Katie Mawson. The children interviewed each other, imagining the scene on the day the photo was taken, and then brainstormed lines of poetry, which were compiled into two artists books.
